Why Choose Lake Orta for a Swim?
Lake Orta is one of Piedmont’s most underrated swimming destinations. Located just 90 kilometers from Milan—and slightly further from Turin—it boasts some of the cleanest water in Europe, with hues ranging from turquoise to deep blue. While it isn’t the sea, it offers a fantastic alternative for those seeking summer refreshment and enchanting scenery.
Water quality is certified: the Lido di Gozzano has once again been awarded the Blue Flag for 2026, maintaining a distinction it has held since 2020. As the only beach on Lake Orta to receive this award, it stands as the jewel in the crown of the area’s swimming spots.
